This past weekend we hosted our Secret Barrel Society at the Upland Bloomington Brewpub for a special sour ale and food pairing and vertical tasting of Sour Reserve 1-5. Good times had by all!
Chef Paddy worked alongside Head Brewer, Caleb Staton, and created a fabulous tasting menu to go with several of our sour ales. Guests enjoyed our new Jolly Pumpkin collaboration ale, Permission Slip, with a Mahi Mahi Shooter, Strawberry Sour Ale with a Smoked Salmon Crostini, Malefactor with Pork Belly Slider, and Smoked Strip Loin Sliders topped with horseradish sauce. To top off the tasting menu we served our Blueberry Sour Ale along with Blueberry and Cream Cheese Pastries and Dantalion with Angel Food Cake topped with chocolate and caramel.
In addition to our sour ale and food pairings, head brewer Caleb Staton, led members in a vertical tasting of our Sour Reserve series. They were also able to see the bright beer tank, ‘Sir Mix-A-Lot,’ that was purchased with SBS memberships and check out the rest of our sours facility.
